Miaplaza is the company hiring Community Moderators and is currently expanding its program.  They support safe communication for students nationwide in their virtual education programs who are a part of the homeschool curriculum platform.  If you are interested in this unique but important opportunity, please continue reading and apply online before the deadline.

What will I do as a Community Moderator?

As a Community Moderator, you’ll be working inside a kid-friendly virtual world.  Your main job?  To make sure the online community stays positive, respectful, and aligned with the platform’s educational goals.  You will review over 500 student posts per hour during our typical season to decide what goes live and what goes back to the student for revisions.. 

Please keep in mind that you may review more than 500 student posts in an hour during peak seasons.  

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

✅ Reviewing user-generated content like messages, profiles, and projects
✅ Monitoring interactions to keep the community safe and welcoming
✅ Helping enforce the site’s rules in a kind and clear way
✅ Encouraging meaningful participation by interacting with users in a supportive tone
✅ Using tools to escalate safety concerns or technical issues when needed

Overall, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and supportive online community for students.

What are the job requirements to be a Community Moderator?

Miaplaza is looking for people who have 1 year of work experience in any industry, access to a computer/laptop with a reliable internet connection, and strong proficiency with technology.  In addition, you will need to possess the following.

  • Detail-oriented and responsible
  • Dedicated to student safety
  • Passionate about online safety and education
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in English (speaking another language is a plus, but not required)
  • Great communicators with a friendly, professional tone
  • Tech-comfortable and quick to learn new tools
  • Has the discipline to work independently

Bonus points if you’ve worked with kids, moderated online communities, or been part of educational projects before!

What hours will I be required to work?

Miaplaza is open 7 days a week from 6 am to 10 pm EST.  Moderators will be required to work four 8-hour shifts during the week and one 4-hour shift every weekend.  They are looking for candidates who can work the following shifts.

10 am to 6 pm ET or 7 am to 3 pm PT

2 pm to 10 pm ET or 11 am to 7 pm PT

Moderators need to be available during the day for training and meetings, and holidays are worked on a rotation.

How much is the pay?

You will make between $17.10 to $24.10 per hour, depending on your location.
