Are you using Pinterest to find and discover new things? Millions of people are and you should too especially if you want to make money from home. Pinterest is one of the best social media platforms to use because it puts you in direct contact with consumers…people who will buy your products.
Before you get started with Pinterest, you will need to do the following:
- Create a Pinterest account.
- Use Canva.
- Sign up with some affiliate companies to earn commissions.
Most people will tell you that you need money to generate income or start a business but that is not true when it comes to Pinterest. Pinterest is free to use and allows its members to promote products and items they’ve created, from others, as well as companies and brands. It is very different from other social media platforms because they do not restrict or place limits on what you can share.
How can I promote products on Pinterest?
You will need a URL link that normally starts with HTTP or HTTPS so that you can copy and paste your pin on Pinterest. For example, this blog starts with the web address HTTP:// but you will not find it unless you have the complete address https://workersonboard.com. You can find the link to products online to redirect the traffic from Pinterest to your product, item, blog, YouTube channel, etc.
What sites can I use to earn money?
After you have created your Pinterest account, I would recommend that you use sites like the Amazon affiliate program because it’s free and doesn’t require you to create pins or images with text on Pinterest. This will save you a lot of time especially when you just getting started using Pinterest. Once you’re approved as an Amazon affiliate, simply create boards that are geared towards a certain category and select items from Amazon to pin to your board.
Here’s an example: Your Pinterest board is about Fitness. You can select fitness books, supplements, equipment, and similar products from Amazon to pin to your board. You can check out my Pinterest boards here.
Continue creating new boards and pinning items to eventually generate traffic and earn commissions from sales.
In addition to the Amazon affiliate program, you can other affiliate programs that pay you real money to recommend their products online. I use them too.
- Amazon Influencer ( for those who have a following on social media including Pinterest)
- Inbox Dollars
- Sam’s Club
- OHM Connect
- Stella & Dot
- WP Engine
- Survey Savvy
- Panthera Network
- Max Bounty
- and many more
You can also sell your own products that you have created like books, ebooks, designs, handmade items, online courses, consultations, etc. This method allows you to keep all your earnings and not have to share your commissions with others.
How much can I make with Pinterest?
You would be surprised to know that a lot of people can generate thousands of dollars a month with Pinterest because they know what their audience wants or needs and what caters to them. This technique delivers the best results in a short period of time. I probably make close to $1,000 a month or more with Pinterest but I would definitely make more if I used it daily. Even if you are a beginner, you could probably earn $300 a month and up depending on what you promote on Pinterest in your spare time.
Can I make money with Pinterest long-term?
Absolutely. Pinterest is unique because once you pin something to your board, so will others…if they like it. Their friends will see it and pin it to their boards so you will get a domino effect that will bring traffic to your product, item, blog, book, etc. for months and even years to come.
For long-term results, I would recommend that you get a blog. Bluehost has everything you need including 24/7 support for all your blogging needs for just $3.49 per month! You can use it to cross-promote it on Pinterest to generate traffic and followers to your blog, help you earn additional income with affiliate programs, generate daily revenue with Google AdSense, get access to more affiliate companies with stricter stipulations plus you will help the visitor get more value from your pin by redirecting them to your blog that will provide helpful content that could help you get a sale.

How can I be successful with Pinterest?
Be consistent. Try to pin to your boards every day if possible. If not, do so regularly to gain the most attention. Join Pinterest groups with a lot of followers that are related to the same topic as your Pinterest boards. Cross-promote on other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and others.
Be patient. Slow and steady build more engagement over time so don’t expect to earn hundreds of dollars overnight. But you can in just a few short weeks if you keep to a routine and stick to your goals.
When selling things online, I have found that you have more success when you try to look for things that people want, need, or can solve a problem. It is also wise to mention the benefits because it offers value to the consumer that will help to enrich their lives and reassure them that you are concerned about their needs.
There are some practical tools that you can incorporate to help you be on top of your Pinterest game. I use Tailwind which helps me pin to my board when I don’t have the time to do so myself when I’m on vacation or even while I’m asleep. You can use it for free too here.
