How do the tasks work?
Let’s imagine that you already signed up as a Turker and you decide to work in the tagging category. Maybe you have a thousand pictures from the beach, you would post each one individually for tagging. On average each HIT pays around $0.10 or less each. Depending upon how much you work you could earn $200 a month or more completing these and other tasks.
How long will it take to complete a HIT?
Most tasks are easy to complete and take anywhere from a single minute to more than a few hours. If you are currently looking for work or a way to make extra cash from home and have some free time on your hands you can work as much as you want setting your own work hours working your own pace.
How does Amazon Mturk pay?
If you live in the United States you can receive your earnings through your Amazon Payments account or to an Amazon.com gift card. You can disburse to your bank account as soon as your earnings are transferred to your Amazon Payments account. Amazon Mturk does not send out a check.
For those who live outside the United States, you can receive your money with an Amazon gift card or receive your money through Buy exchanging their funds using a party platform called Purse io. Purse io will allow you to earn Bitcoins by spending your Amazon gift balance.
The downside of working for Amazon Mturk
When you initially start working on HITS for Amazon Mturk the pay is extremely low. But this will improve once you have around 10,000 approved HITS. You will then open up a pool of more jobs that with higher pay. Another downside or complaint from Turkers is that you cannot request for withdrawal of your money within 10 days time which is somewhat similar to a probationary period. Also, the income on their site is not fixed and varies on a day-to-day basis. On a bad day, you may struggle to earn a single dollar but on a good day, you can earn as little as $20 or more. It really depends on how much work you want to put in.

There are some people who have made Amazon Mturk work for them. Just remember there are hundreds if not thousands of HITS that are available daily. I’ve gotten the following response the last two times I’ve tried to register for Amazon MTurk. *shrug*
“Unable to extend an invitation at this time
To effectively maintain and administer the Amazon Technical Turk (MTurk) marketplace, we are not always in a position to extend an invitation to complete tasks and earn rewards to every newly registered worker. Should conditions change in the future, we will notify you with an invitation.

I am really sorry to hear that. Sometimes Amazon will not extend an invitation to everyone due to the fact that they verify information to their satisfaction like credit history, bank accounts, and other issues. If you live outside the US, not being able to verify your identity in your country will also have a factor on getting your account approved. Do not let this discourage you because you could contact Amazon and ask them specifically why you were unable to get an Mturk account and if need be complete additional steps required to be invited.
