How to Make Money with a Website

One of the questions I get asked on a regular basis is “How you can make money with a blog or website.”  I thought it would be fitting to end the year, talking about starting a website because it has allowed many people to earn a full-time income from home on a monthly basis.  I have been blogging for more than 5 years now and I can honestly tell you that it has enabled me to generate a steady income without having to leave my home where I am able to set and work my own schedule.

Starting your own blog or website will be one of the greatest journeys in life that can open the door to countless money-making opportunities.  In fact, there are literally dozens of ways to make money with a website.  But in order to do so, you will need to select the best platform for you.

Some may decide to go the free route or purchase a hosting plan and a domain name.  I have experience with both but I prefer the paid platform with a hosting plan because it comes with so many features, designs, plugins and so much more to make your website, SEO and user-friendly.

What websites make the most money?    

In today’s era of technology, there are many ways to make money with a website.  For some, it’s easy to make money- based on their product or service in a short period of time.  A lot of it has to do with the audience they are able to carve out for themselves as well as the interest they garner in their content.  For others, it may take a little longer, but patience, persistence, and hard work will pay off for you in the long run.

There are three types of websites that make the most money.

1. A business website
2. A magazine blog.
3. Or a media outlet.

To keep your business relevant, you will need to know your business model and the direction that it’s going.  A business sells products and services, and content is a way to attract people and retain their interest. Remember, the main goal of your business should be traffic.

It is imperative that you have millions of people who are eyeballing your products or services.  You should always remember these four things to improve your website:

1. Targeting
2. Sharing
3. Conversation
4. Retention

Email Marketing

Email Marketing is the most popular and powerful way to make money on your website. You can make money in a few different ways- such as Pop-Up Diaries, Direct Email Promotion, or the Squeeze Page option- where visitors sign up for your mailing list.  I personally use and recommend Constant Contact as my email service provider and you can too.  It is free to join and get started and you will only be charged based on the number of subscribers that you have on a monthly basis.

Pay Per Click Contextual Ad Network

These are networks that have ads displayed, based on the content of your business site.  Here are a few:

CPM Advertising Network

This option is available for those who, do not use pay-per-click ads.  This type of network pays per view (usually a dollar amount based on 1,000 per view).  It is recommended for a larger visitor presence.  Here are a few:

CPM (Cost per Action) Network

This type of network offers both affiliate and CPA options, which pay a fixed amount (like an email submit form).  Here are two:

Display jobs on your blog in a Job Roller theme template that you can purchase at App Themes here.  It is one of the easiest ways to make money with your blog or website.  Once your visitors click on a job or jobs, you will earn money.  You will need a hosting plan to install themes on your blog or website which are listed near the top of this post.

Sell Ad Space

This huge market allows you to contact people directly, or use an ad manager/network, to help you buy or sell products. Here is one:

Create Your Own Products

The most profitable way to monetize your site is to sell your own products.  If all else fails or you feel as though you could be earning more, selling your own merchandise, digital products, and so forth is the right direction to pursue.  Not only will you get to keep most of your commissions but you will feel satisfied knowing that you created your own product which is made available for purchase.  You will be viewed as a trusted source by your audience and build confidence in yourself.  You can place items like:

Software
Video Training

Online Courses/Classes

There are many other products that you can profit from for yourself, that will make money- but this one is one of the most effective because you are not only helping your company but yourself.  Using the method will also help you to generate passive income for yourself, especially if you are able to sell products on a monthly basis.

Remember, making money with a website can be very rewarding.  You can utilize many of the techniques that we discussed above, but make sure they are suitable for your product or service needs.  It’s time for you to try many of these options, so get started today.  I know you can do this.  All you need are the knowledge and tools and some encouragement to help you reach your goals.
