Are you looking for an easy non-phone work at home job that you can start this week? If so, a top work at home employer is looking for remote workers to combat fake news online. The job title for this position is labeled as a Content Review Contractor posted by Appen. Appen, formerly known as Butler Hill offers legitimate work at home opportunities for work at home agents that speak 180 languages from all over the world. Back in 2017, Appen acquired Leapforce (another work at home employer with non-phone jobs) to provide even more tasks and projects through their platform for people with access to the internet to work on.
I have talked about Appen many times on this blog because they provide unique work at home jobs and perks that you may not find with other work at home companies. Here are some of them listed below:
- Work from anywhere
- Flexible hours for you to pick the days and hours you want to work
- Jobs and tasks you can do from your smartphone
- Many jobs that do not require experience
- Easy work
- Good work/life balance
- Training provided
- Pays on time
- Great for introverts or those who prefer not to talk to customers over the phone in sales, customer service, tech support, etc.
- No interview required.
Why is there a need to combat fake news online?
In 2019, Statista reported that 47 percent of Americans witnessed fake news from various sources. As a work at home blogger, I can attest to the fact that there is more fake work at home jobs, money-making opportunities, and the like, then there are real work at home jobs. And as more and more people use the internet to consume and digest the latest headlines, reports, and news stories, a lot of people will then share it online.
This is where the problem lies. Fake news can spread very fast online because others will, in turn, share what you’ve shared not knowing that it was a fake story. Fake news can cause harm and damage to companies, individuals, businesses, or even to the person that unintentionally shared it. This is exactly why a company would hire people to detect fake news online and remove it.
What are the requirements?
Appen only has 4 simple requirements for this position.
- You will need an interest in reading online content.
- A passion for the truth.
- A desktop computer or laptop with high-speed Internet connection.
- Take and pass an assessment test. (Study materials will be provided).
What job duties will you be performing?
In this role, you will be helping to make the internet a safer place by researching and evaluating claims that have been made in various types of social media content like articles, photos, or videos to determine whether they are credible. These evaluations will be performed on your desktop or laptop computer to be flagged and removed from social media sites if they are fake.
How many hours are required?
How much is the pay?
The hourly pay is not listed in this job description but others have reported earning anywhere from $12 to $14 per hour.
