The name of the company is called Aira.  Aira is a software/technology company based in San Diego, California with offices in La Jolla, California.  It appears Aira was created back in 2015 by an entrepreneur who had a brilliant idea to use Google Glass Technology to create a service similar to OnStar to help those with low vision.

What position is Aira hiring for?

Aira is currently hiring work from home agents or Aira agents to help the company fulfill and complete its mission to empower individuals with vision challenges so that they can be more independent and mobile.

What are the job duties of an Aira agent?

As an Aira agent, you will be required to assist those with limited vision capabilities otherwise known as Explorers to complete just about any task you can think of.  For example, you may be asked to assist Explorers in ordering prescriptions, shopping online, booking a hotel/vacation stay, cooking and preparing meals for their family, reading books to their loved ones, making calls, doing research, providing descriptions of products, troubleshoot technology, navigate locations, etc.

This will require you to log in to your computer from your home to access your specialized dashboard for all Aira agents to begin taking and answering live video calls.

What is Aira looking for in an agent?

An ideal candidate would be very patient, caring, and empathetic towards every Explorer they assist.  This is essential to help themselves and the Explorers not become overly frustrated so they can accomplish their tasks.  In addition to this,  Aira states they are looking for people with the following skills:

  • Are well-spoken.
  • Can multitask.
  • Can work through complicated tasks and technical difficulties.
  • Are located in the United States.
  • Can handle working late nights from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. PST.
  • Fluent in English.
  • No background noise.
  • Have good reading and geography skills.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • A computer.
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Take a background check.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Is familiar with computers, smartphones, apps, and online software programs.
  • Can sit or stand for long periods of time.

Will I be required to take a test?

Yes.  Aira does have an aptitude test that consists of multiple-choice, short answers, and listening comprehension.  Please allow 30 to 45 of your time to complete it in its entirety.  You will need to use a computer to take the exam.  Chromebooks, tablets, or smartphones are not allowed.  If you move on to the next step, they will follow up with a questionnaire and a group interview where they explain more details about the company.  During this time, you will complete a typical agent assignment as a part of the hiring process.

How much does an Aira agent earn?

Aira pays its agents an hourly rate of $15 to start.
